November 3, 2026 General Election - City Council

The City of Stayton is governed by a council consisting of a Mayor plus five Councilors nominated and elected from the city at large. The Mayor's term of office is four years, and a Councilor's term of office is four years. The candidate filing period opens on June 3, 2026. 

At the 2026 General Election, the positions of the Mayor and three Councilors will appear on the ballot.

  • Mayor position currently held by Brian Quigley
  • Council position currently held by Leonard Hays
  • Council position currently held by David Patty
  • Council position currently held by Jordan Ohrt

Information potential candidates should know prior to filing to run for office include: 

  • All positions are non-partisan.
  • Council positions are elected at large – meaning candidates may reside in any area inside the Stayton city limits.
  • All positions are volunteer / non-paid.
  • Neither the mayor nor a councilor may be employed by the city.
  • The council is the final judge of the election and qualifications of elected officials.
  • The council meets on the first and third Monday's of each month at 6:30 p.m.
  • The council serves as members of the Budget Committee.
  • All terms will begin on January 4, 2027.

    • Last day for elected incumbent candidates: August 18, 2026
    • Last day for appointed incumbent and new candidates: August 25, 2026
    • Last day for candidate to withdraw: August 28, 2026
    • Election Day: November 3, 2026

    • Currently registered to vote in Oregon.
    • Reside within the Stayton city limits at least one year immediately before election or appointment to office.
    • No person may be a candidate at a single election for more than one city office.
    • Submit appropriate candidacy form(s) in accordance with State election laws and the City Charter within the filing deadline.

    Filing Requirements

    • If you wish to file candidacy for Councilor, an SEL101 form is required.
    • This completed form must be submitted to the City Elections Officer.
    • No filing fees or signature sheets are required to run for City of Stayton offices.
