The City of Stayton follows the budget process as required by State Law.
The Budget Committee consists of 12 people - 6 City Council members and 6 members of the public, who are appointed by the Council to the Committee. The Committee reviews the Proposed Budget and after the review can make changes or adjustments.
When the Budget Committee is finished with their review, they approve the budget which is then presented to the City Council for their review and discussion. The City Council holds a public hearing on the budget and then adopts the budget prior to July 1. The process is described in the Local Budget Handbook that is prepared by the Oregon Department of Revenue.
