May 2025 - Arrest Blotter
This monthly police blotter contains a short summary of police arrests for May 2025. Please note this is just a glimpse into police activity in the City of Stayton that resulted in arrests and does not cover all calls for service.
- 5/2/2025 - N Third Ave: A 31-year-old male resident of Stayton was taken into custody at the Stayton Police Department on a Marion County felony warrant. The individual was transported without incident to the Marion County Jail.
- 5/3/2025 – Martin Dr.: Officers responded to a crash where a vehicle struck the front of a local business, causing significant structural damage. Witnesses reported the vehicle had accelerated across the parking lot before striking the store front. The driver, a 68-year-old female of Stayton, showed signs of impairment. A breath test later confirmed the impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail for DUII and Reckless Driving.
- 5/4/2025 – W Washington St.: Officers responded to a report of someone camping on private property. The property owner confirmed they wanted the individual trespassed. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male transient in a tent who had previously been trespassed from the same location. The individual was informed they were under arrest for returning to the property after receiving a prior warning.
- 5/6/2025 - N First Ave: Officers responded to a theft in progress at a local store after a known suspect was seen wearing their stolen merchandise. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived. Video evidence was collected and the officers we able to identify the 47-year-old male resident of Stayton. Officers were able to locate the individual and he was arrested for Theft II.
- 5/6/2025 – W Kathy: Officers contacted a female seen acting suspiciously near residences. She initially refused to speak but was identified from prior encounters. It was confirmed the 36-year-old female of Stayton had two active arrest warrants in Linn and Marion counties. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to Marion County Jail.
- 5/7/2025 - Shaff Rd.: In early April, officers investigated a hit-and-run incident. Thanks to detailed witness accounts, officers were able to identify the vehicle involved and locate the suspect. A 32-year-old female resident of Turner was arrested and has been charged with Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver When Property is Damaged.
- 5/9/2025 - E Burnett St: Officers arrested a 37-year-old Salem resident in connection with a fraudulent financial transaction. The individual was taken into custody after cashing a fraudulent check at a local financial institution. Following an investigation, the suspect was charged with Identity Theft, Forgery II, and Theft II.
- 5/10/25 - E Jefferson St: Officers were dispatched to a residence after a report that a 34-year-old female resident of Stayton had broken a car window during a dispute. After an investigation, the female was taken into custody and arrested for Assault IV.
- 5/11/25 - Golf Club Rd.: Officers were dispatched to a theft report involving a stolen iPhone. A 63-year-old male resident was taken into custody, and the phone was returned to the rightful owners. He was arrested for Theft I and transported to Marion County Jail.
- 5/12/25 - E Washington St.: A man walking his dog was approached by a male who brandished a pocketknife and made verbal threats. After a brief confrontation, the suspect then walked away without further incident. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area but were initially unable to locate the individual. An investigation was completed, and officers were able to identify a suspect and build a case for court. Several days later, the 44-year-old transient was located and arrested. He has been charged with: Menacing, Use/Display of a Weapon. Unlawful Use/Carry of a Weapon, and Disorderly Conduct.
- 5/13/25 – E Marion St.: Officers observed a known male rummaging through the garbage cans of a local business. Upon making contact, officers informed the individual that his actions constituted both a city ordinance violation and trespassing on private property. During the interaction, officers suspected the 42-year-old male transient, was in possession of stolen property. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass II, Theft II (Receiving Stolen Property), and Resisting Arrest. The individual was transported to Marion County Jail.
- 5/16/25 – N Third Ave: A 32-year-old female was taken into custody for a felony parole violation warrant out of Linn County. The individual was transported to Marion County Jail.
- 5/16/2025 - N Third Ave: While on routine patrol, an officer identified a female subject known to have multiple outstanding felony warrants. Upon noticing the officer, the 32-year-old female resident of Stayton fled on foot, initiating a brief pursuit. The officer successfully apprehended her, and she was taken into custody and transported to Marion County Jail without further incident.
- 5/18/25 – N First Ave: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on N First Ave in Stayton. During the stop, it was confirmed that the driver had an active Fail to Appear warrant issued by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The 32-year-old male was taken into custody without incident and transported to Marion County Jail.
- 5/20/25 – W Darby St: Officers responded to a report of trespassing at a vacant property in Stayton. The suspect, a 27-year-old male resident of Stayton, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers after a short pursuit. It was confirmed the individual had a felony parole warrant. During booking at the jail, a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine was found and later tested and confirmed. The individual was transported to Marion County Jail.
- 5/24/25 – Golf Club Rd.: Officers responded to a reported disturbance at a Stayton residence involving a dispute between two individuals. A male was accused of making unwanted physical contact with a female and damaging her vehicle, including breaking the windshield and side mirror. Officers arrested the 44-year-old male resident of Stayton for Harassment and Criminal Mischief II. He was lodged at Marion County Jail.
- 5/24/25 – N Third Ave: Officers responded to a report of concerns of a possible kidnapping. Officers contacted a male at a local residence who matched the information associated with the call. While speaking with him, officers discovered he had a warrant out of Salem Municipal Court. The 41-year-old male resident of Salem was cited and released per the conditions of the warrant. It was determined the initial report was unfounded.
- 5/26/25 – N. Sixth Ave: Officers responded to a reported fight involving two female juveniles and a male juvenile possibly armed with a knife. One juvenile was cited for menacing and released to a guardian.
- 5/28/25 – Jefferson St: Officers responded to a suspicious activity call. During their contact with the 64-year-old male, they learned he had a Failure to Appear warrant of Salem Municipal Court. Officers cited and released the male.
- 5/28/25 - Wyatt Ave: Police investigated a restraining order violation involving third-party contact. After confirming the violation of the court order, the 43-year-old male resident of Stayton was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
- 5/28/25 – Golf Club Rd: A restraining order violation was reported. The restrained individual was contacted and arrested based on the violation and transported to jail.
- 5/29/25 – Washington St.: Officers responded to a local restaurant regarding a report of a disorderly individual. Upon arrival, the 38-year-old male resident of Scio, was found to be visibly intoxicated. Further investigation revealed he had driven to the location from a nearby bar after consuming alcohol. Following the investigation, the male was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII).
- 5/31/25 - Cascade Hwy/Santiam: A 25-year-old male Silverton resident was arrested for DUII.The motorist was originally stopped after poor driving was witnessed and the vehicle failing to maintain his lane and traveling in the turn lane posing a hazard.
