This monthly police blotter contains a short summary of police arrests for July 2025. Please note this is just a glimpse into police activity in the City of Stayton that resulted in arrests and does not cover all calls for service.
7/2/25 – E. Washington St: After a few encounters with an intoxicated male who was initially contacted in a business parking lot, a 44-year-old male was arrested for Menacing, Disorderly Conduct II, Violation of Release Agreement and was transported to Marion County Jail.
7/3/25 – E. Jefferson St: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence and arrested the 20-year-old female subject for Physical Harassment (166.065 A) and transported her to the Marion County Jail.
7/3/25 – W. Washington St: Officers responded to a disturbance at a local convenience store, where a 26-year-old man became irate after being denied restroom access and verbally abused an employee. A bystander intervened, and followed him outside, where the subject struck the bystander before fleeing the scene. Officers were able to quickly locate the male subject where he was arrested for Driving under the Influence, Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Reckless Endangering.
7/4/25 – N. 1st Ave: Officers observed a 33-year-old male subject driving while holding his mobile device. During the traffic stop, the officer confirmed the subject's identity and learned he was required to have an ignition interlock device installed in his vehicle -a legal requirement following a DUII-related license suspension. He was subsequently arrested for Driving While Suspended, Using a Cell Phone While Driving, and Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device.
7/5/25 – N. 10th Ave: An Officer was dispatched to Santiam Hospital in response to a request for police assistance. Upon arrival, the officer contacted a 21-year-old male who stated he needed a ride. He was slurring his words and speaking in a very low volume. The officer identified him and confirmed he had an active statewide felony warrant for a probation violation. The male was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail.
7/10/25 – Westwood Dr: An officer responded to a noise complaint at a residence. Upon arrival, the officer contacted a female subject at the home. A check with dispatch revealed an active warrant for her arrest out of Linn County. The officer placed her under arrest and transported the subject to the Marion County Jail.
7/11/25 – N. First Ave: An officer responded to a reported assault at a local business. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a male who stated that during a verbal dispute with the man, the other male struck the cell phone out of his hand. A warrant check revealed the 35-year-old Stayton resident had an active probation-violation warrant out of Clackamas County. The officer placed him under arrest for physical harassment and the outstanding warrant and transported him to the Marion County Jail.
An employee at a business called officers to report a male had been on the premise despite a previous trespass notice. The male was contacted in the area and officers cited the 41-year-old Scio resident for Criminal Trespass.
7/12/25 – E. Jefferson St: Officers responded to a welfare check involving a report that a male subject known to the resident was in the home with a knife. After an investigation, the 31-year-old male from Salem was subsequently arrested for Violating a Court-Issued Stalking Protective Order and transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/12/25 – E. Washington St: An officer responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the male subject was observed at the top of the stairs and identified as someone known to the resident. Dispatch confirmed the subject had a state-wide felony warrant out of Marion County for Robbery II. The 37-year-old male was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/12/25 - Fern Ridge Rd: Officers responded to a report of a male transient trespassing on private property. The 44-year-old male was transported to the Marion County Jail on an outstanding warrant.
7/13/25 – N. 1st Ave: Officers responded to a local business after the manager reported that an employee had made concerning statements to a coworker about harming others. Officers contacted the 63-year-old male resident of Stayton, and following their investigation, he was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/13/25 – N. 1st Ave: During a traffic stop, it was learned the driver had multiple failure-to-appear warrants through Marion County. The 45-year-old male resident of Crabtree was arrested for his outstanding warrants and Driving While Suspended.
7/14/25 – W. Water St. An officer recognized a male subject from prior contacts and was aware of an active failure-to-appear warrant. The 37-year-old Marion resident was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/15/25 – W. Washington St: Officers responded to a report of an active restraining order violation. The male subject had been repeatedly contacting the protected party by phone and making threats. Following an investigation, officers contacted the 34-year-old subject at his Stayton residence, where he was arrested for violating the restraining order and transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/18/25 – N. 1st Ave: During a routine traffic stop, officers discovered the male driver had an active warrant issued by Mill City Municipal Court. The 37-year-old male resident of Salem was arrested and transported to the Stayton Police Department for fingerprinting and processing.
7/18/25 – Shaff Rd / Deer Ave: An officer conducted a traffic stop and observed an open beer can on the vehicle’s floorboard. The driver, a 42-year-old male resident of Stayton, showed visible signs of impairment and was being uncooperative. The subject refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
7/19/25 – W. Regis St: Officers responded to a report of theft from a resident’s yard, reported by a neighbor who witnessed a juvenile and an adult taking property. The witness provided a vehicle description, license plate number, and security camera footage of the incident. While searching the area, officers spotted the subject vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The 57-year-old male from Sublimity immediately disclosed the location of the stolen property. The subject was arrested, and the property was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
7/20/25 - Stayton Rd SE / Rainwater Ln: Officers observed a vehicle drifting across lanes and initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, the officer noticed a half-empty bottle of liquor on the backseat floorboard. The driver, a 54-year-old female resident of Salem, appeared visibly impaired and consented to perform standardized field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
7/21/25 – N. Gardner Ave: While addressing an unrelated matter, officers contacted a 27-year-old male subject and discovered he had an active probation violation warrant for his arrest from Marion County. The subject, a Stayton resident, was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/26/25 – W. Locust St: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving two male individuals engaged in a verbal altercation. The situation escalated when the individuals began throwing objects at each other, culminating in one subject chasing the other with a baseball bat. Officers arrested one of the individuals for menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and disorderly conduct. The male, a 64-year-old resident of Stayton, was transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/26/25 – W. Locust St: A 64-year-old male who had been arrested earlier in the day returned to a location he was prohibited from visiting under the terms of his release agreement. Officers responded to the scene and arrested the individual for violating the conditions of his release. He was transported to the Marion County Jail.
7/28/25 – S. 1st Ave: While on foot patrol in a Stayton Park, officers observed a trail through the brush leading onto private property. Upon following the trial, officers discovered an illegal campsite occupied by two local transients. Both individuals were issued criminal citations for trespassing.
7/28/2025 – E. Santiam St: Officers responded to a residence following reports of a family disturbance. Upon arrival, the male subject had already left the scene. The female resident reported that the male, a 38-year-old, had entered her home without permission. A verbal altercation ensued, during which the male physically assaulted her before fleeing the location.
Further investigation revealed that two active no-contact release agreements were in place between the individuals, both of which the male had violated. Following the investigation, the male subject was located, arrested, and charged with Burglary in the First Degree, two counts of Violating a Release Agreement, and Physical Harassment.
7/30/25 – E. Jefferson St: Officers were dispatched to a reported family disturbance. Officers arrested the 69-year-old male resident of Stayton for physical harassment and transported him to the Marion County Jail.
