Stayton Police Blotter - August 2025

This monthly police blotter contains a short summary of police arrests for August 2025. Please note this is just a glimpse into police activity in the City of Stayton that resulted in arrests and does not cover all calls for service.

August 1st - Shaff Rd - An officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a traffic violation. During contact, the driver was found to have an active warrant. The 47-year-old male from Eugene was taken into custody without incident, transported to Stayton PD for processing, and also cited for multiple traffic violations.

August 2nd - Shaff Rd - Officers responded to a citizen report of a possible impaired driver in Stayton. The reporting party observed the vehicle swerving and running stop signs. Officers located the vehicle a short time later and initiated a traffic stop. Based on observed signs of impairment and subsequent testing, the female, a 50-year-old Stayton resident, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

August 3rd – E. Jefferson St. - Officers responded to a call at an apartment on E. Jefferson Street. During contact, the 65-year-old resident of Stayton was found to have multiple outstanding warrants. The male subject was taken into custody without incident, processed at the Stayton Police Department, and later cited and released.

August 3rd – E. Virginia St - Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence in Stayton. Following investigation, a 25-year-old Stayton man, was taken into custody for multiple domestic violence - related charges stemming from both the current incident and previously unreported events. The subject was transported to the Marion County Jail.

August 3rd – E. Virginia St - Officers were called to the area of E. Virginia Street regarding a reported disturbance between two individuals. Witnesses reported seeing a female push and strike a male who was attempting to walk away. The 32-year-old female, a resident of Stayton, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

August 4th – N. 1st Ave - Officers contacted a 27-year-old male in the parking lot of a business on N 1st Avenue. Dispatch confirmed the subject had a felony warrant for a parole violation. The subject was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Marion County Jail.

August 5th – N. First Ave An Officer was dispatched to a local business following a report of theft. Responding to the scene, the officer reviewed video surveillance and successfully identified the individuals involved. Subsequently, the officer contacted both subjects at their respective Stayton residences. The two male subjects – aged 17 and 18 – were arrested and cited for Theft in the Second Degree (Theft II).

August 7th – W. Washington St - Officers were dispatched to a report of a possible stabbing in front of a business on N First Avenue. After searching the area, no victim was located, and the report was determined to be false. Further investigation led to the arrest of the caller, a 35-year-old female of Stayton for Improper Use of 911. The subject was processed at the Stayton Police Department and later released.

August 8th – N 7th Ave – Officers responded to a disturbance at Pioneer Park involving a juvenile reportedly striking others with his hands and a scooter. Several individuals reported being hit, and officers confirmed four victims of physical harassment. The juvenile was transported home to a parent and issued citations for (Physical) Harassment into juvenile court.

August 11th – N 10th Ave - Officers responded to Santiam Hospital after receiving a report of a dog left inside a parked vehicle in 100-degree weather. The dog was found panting heavily inside the car with only the windows cracked. Officers provided the dog with water while attempting to locate the owner. The owner, a 21-year-old female of Salem, returned to the vehicle about 40 minutes later and admitted leaving the dog during an appointment. She was arrested for Animal Neglect, and the dog was released into the care of a family member.

August 11th - E Florence St - Officers responded to a domestic disturbance where during an argument at Riverfront Park, one party was reportedly pushed to the ground, sustaining scrapes and bruising; no medical treatment was accepted. On August 18, coordination with Aumsville PD led to the arrest of the suspect at the Aumsville Skate Park. The suspect was transported to Marion County jail for Strangulation and 4th- degree assault.

August 12th - Westown Dr. - An officer stopped a vehicle after recognizing the driver as having a revoked license. The driver, a 64-year-old resident of Stayton, admitted he was not supposed to be driving and also lacked insurance and current registration. He was arrested for Misdemeanor Level Driving While Suspended, fingerprinted, cited for multiple violations, and released with a court date.

August 12th – N First Ave – While on patrol, an officer observed a group of individuals and recognized one of the subjects known to have a felony warrant for his arrest. Officers contacted the individual and subsequently arrested a 39-year-old male of Salem and transported him to Marion County Jail.

August 12th – Cooper Ct - Officers conducted an investigation into a reported domestic assault. The victim reported being struck and grabbed during an argument. On August 16, the involved male, a 50-year-old Stayton resident, voluntarily turned himself in at the Stayton Police Department. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Marion County Jail.

August 13th – E Santiam St - Officers responded after 911 callers reported several males fighting near a residence on E Santiam Street. Officers located an involved vehicle matching the description provided by callers as it was leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop. During the contact, the driver, a male resident of Stayton, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and arrested. The driver was transported to the Marion County Jail on the charge of elude.

August 16th – N Third Ave - Officers responded to a disturbance at a bar involving a male who was reported to be fighting and acting disorderly. The subject, a 44-year-old Stayton resident, was located nearby and initially provided false identifying information before being detained. Witnesses stated the male attempted to re-enter the bar after being removed and struck an employee during the altercation. The suspect was ultimately arrested on multiple outstanding warrants, and charges of False Info To Police, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Deg, Harassment-Physical,  and transported to the Marion County Jail.

August 16th – N First Ave – During a traffic stop for expired registration, the driver was found to have a felony warrant. The male driver, a 59-year-old Texas resident, was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.

August 18th – E Florence St – While conducting routine checks of the park, an officer discovered individuals inside the park outside of permitted hours. After being informed they were excluded from the premises for 30 days, the individuals – a 38-year-old male and 38-year-old female- later returned. The subjects were arrested for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and were transported to Marion County Jail.

August 18th – E Florence St - Officers were alerted to unauthorized camps down a wooded trail on private property. The 40-year-old female and 36-year-old male transients of the first camp had previously been trespassed and warned not to return. Due to their continued presence and the property conditions, officers arrested them for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Offensive Littering and transported them to the Marion County Jail.

The occupant of the second camp, a 33-year-old male transient, was informed that he was on private land and instructed to leave. Despite the warning, the individual remained, resulting in arrest for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Offensive Littering. He was transported to Marion County Jail.

August 24th – N Second Ave - An officer observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed - peaking above 80?mph in a posted 40?mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted, and contact was made with the 36-year-old female driver. The officer noted visible signs of intoxication and observed an open beer can in the center console. After an investigation, she was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

August 28th – N Third Ave - Officers responded to a trespass complaint at a local business. The caller said a previously banned male had returned to the store. Officers located the 37-year-old male and confirmed he had a warrant for parole violation out of Marion County. Officers arrested the male subject for Criminal Trespass II and served the outstanding warrant.
