"Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving" - December 2023 Update
01/05/2024

As the sun set in 2023, the City of Stayton Police Department finished the year with a “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving” high visibility enforcement funded by Federal Grant Funds.  During the month of December 2023, the police department conducted 83 traffic stops for various violations, in addition to these traffic stops, 6 drivers were stopped and arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII).

Nationally, it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .08 or higher, except in Utah, where the limit is .05 g/dL. And the costs can be financial, too: If you’re caught drinking and driving, you could face jail time, lose your driver’s license and your vehicle, and pay up to $10,000 in attorney’s fees, fines, car towing, higher insurance rates, and lost wages.
