Oregon author Steve Arndt to Speak at Stayton Public Library
01/01/2018
The Stayton Public Library is excited to announce a visit featuring author Steve Arndt on Thursday, January 18, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the E. G. Siegmund Meeting Room. There will be a reception accompanying the event.

Steve Arndt is the author of the Oregon travel series Roads Less Traveled of which there are currently 8 books. Steve has also released three new books Ghost Towns in Oregon, A-Z volumes I, II, and III which feature 50 ghost towns. In August 2017 Steve released A Compendium of Oregon Ghost Towns, an alphabetical listing of over 350 Oregon Ghost Towns.

Arndt grew up in rural Independence, Oregon during the state’s centennial, a setting that kindled his curiosity about the region’s history. His uncle, William Gilbaugh, now a retired Washington State park ranger and noted northwest photographer, further ignited his passion by occasionally taking Steve on tours of Oregon and Washington back roads and byways. Today his car is filled with cars seats for his three young granddaughters that have begun joining Steve and his wife Diane on their road-trips. He now resides in Woodburn.

The Stayton Public Library’s speaking events for 2018 are made possible by the Stayton Friends of the Library.
