The Stayton Public Library is excited to announce a presentation “The Great American Eclipse” with Chris Claysmith on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 pm in the E. G. Siegmund Meeting Room. There will be a reception accompanying the event.
Chemeketa Astronomy Instructor Chris Claysmith will give a presentation on the history and geometry of eclipses as well as why the 2017 eclipse may be a once in a lifetime event and how Stayton is in a prime viewing location.
Chris Claysmith graduated from Stayton High School in 2002 and went on to obtain a Bachelor's in Physics from Oregon State University and a Master's in Astronomy from Boston University. He returned to Oregon from Massachusetts and now teaches Physics and Astronomy at Chemeketa Community College.
